How to Deal with Shift Work Disorder in the time of the coronavirus

Prof. Charles Czeisler, M.D. Ph.D.

Dr. Charles (Chuck) Czeisler is an American physician, sleep researcher and author in the fields of circadian rhythm and sleep medicine, based out of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School Boston, USA. A member of the US National Academy of Medicine, his areas of focus include the emerging field of Shift Work Sleep-Wake Disorder.

Dr. Czeisler will focus his presentation at AWAKE 2020 on this topic, a condition which research has shown can affect between 15-30% of all shift workers.

A/Prof Darren Mansfield, MBBS, FRACP, Ph.D.

A/Prof. Darren Mansfield is the Deputy Director of Monash Lung and Sleep at Monash Health. He holds a large clinical, teaching, and administrative commitment to the Monash Health network in the fields of Respiratory and General Medicine and is an active researcher with an appointment in the school of psychological sciences and Turner Institute Monash University. After his initial medical training he specialised in Intensive Care Medicine and completed a PhD looking at the interaction of sleep disordered breathing and heart function in patients with congestive heart failure.
